Research at BSCA

Research at the Beyond Science + Consciousness Alliance (BSCA) focuses on open, unresolved questions at the frontiers of science, philosophy, and technology. These questions emerge from both contemporary scientific literature and prior interdisciplinary inquiry documented within the Beyond Science publication program.

Disclaimer: All topics presented by BSCA are exploratory and intended for inquiry and discussion. They do not represent established conclusions or institutional positions.

CORE RESEARCH DOMAINS

BSCA organizes its research activity across the following interconnected domains:

Cosmology & Fundamental Physics

Origins of the universe, the nature of space and time, cosmological limits, and unresolved problems in fundamental physics.

Consciousness & Neuroscience

Neural and non-neural models of consciousness, subjective experience, awareness, and the relationship between mind and physical systems.

Quantum Foundations & Information

Quantum interpretation, information-theoretic approaches to reality, non-locality, dimensionality, and unresolved conceptual paradoxes.

Life, Biotechnology & Medicine

Emergence of life, complexity, longevity, biological intelligence, and the future of medicine at the intersection of biology and technology.

Artificial Intelligence & Intelligence Futures

Artificial intelligence, machine intelligence, human–AI interaction, intelligence amplification, and long-term societal implications.

CURRENT RESEARCH THEMES

(Emerging from Existing Interdisciplinary Work)

The Alliance’s current research focus includes thematic questions explored across the Beyond Science volumes, now reframed as open research directions:

  • Limits of cosmological knowledge and the edge conditions of the observable universe
  • The nature of consciousness and its relationship to physical reality
  • Hidden dimensions, quantum uncertainty, and informational models of reality
  • The evolution of life, intelligence, and biological complexity
  • The future trajectory of intelligence in biological and artificial forms
  • Ethical, societal, and civilizational implications of scientific and technological convergence

These themes form the starting point for further inquiry within BSCA and are expanded in detail within the Research Compendium.

PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH

BSCA invites participation from researchers, institutions, industry, and policy communities to:

  • Submit research notes or exploratory papers
  • Contribute interdisciplinary commentary
  • Collaborate on working groups and dialogues
  • Propose extensions to the Research Compendium

Participation does not require alignment with any specific theoretical, philosophical, or methodological position.
